What to Know About Covid 19
-If you are concerned you had an exposure or that you may be getting sick; contact your doctor (or us!)
-There is nothing wrong with being concerned for your safety or the safety of others. An appointment to just discuss your concerns is a valid reason to make an appointment. As is anxiety, and insomnia which can occur due to stress.
- If you smoke, now is a great time to stop. Right NOW. If you have uncontrolled COPD or Asthma, it is important to get these lung issues and conditions under control as soon as possible (We can help!). COVID 19 is a disease of the lower respiratory tract (lungs!).
-Corona Viruses are not new, but this strain is (new to us) and so we do not have vaccines or antiviral (medications) made to fight it specifically. We DO have antivirals. They are not designed to target this virus; which makes their usefulness limited.
-There is a period of 5 to 14 days where someone is infected and may not show signs of infection (high fevers, cough, difficulty breathing, fatigue).
-Someone who is sick and has mild to Moderate illness can be taken care of at home (quarantined in a sick room, away from others -including pets!) and should remain quarantined for atleast 3 days after their last fever.
-80% of people will get a viral bronchitis (and get over it- thus building a natural immunity to it) but also may spread it in the process. 20% of people will have their own immune system spark a severe reaction know as ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome).
-The elderly, sick and young most often get the most ill, but cases of healthy individuals have been reported as well, though this is less common.
-COVID 19 Virus can remain infectious on surfaces up to 6 days. It was present up to 9 days but wasn't infectious at 9 days. Keep this in mind when ordering items (Overnight Delivery).
-Disinfect surfaces, toys, shoes, etc especially items that came in contact with someone who may be sick.
-Quarantine yourself or others in a "sick room" so others do not get sick.
-Keep a distance of 6 ft from someone who is coughing or is sick in appearance.
-Avoid crowded spaces or poorly ventilated areas.
-If you go to a doctors office, do not touch magazines, pens etc. If you did, simply wash your hands with soap and warm water for 20 seconds. Hand sanitizer should also be available. Please use it.
Do not touch your face, nose, mouth, eyes while out and about.
-Keep your hands clean and away from your face to avoid accidentally giving yourself the virus (or other viruses!)
